I am one of those who loves summer to the death, not quite being able to let go until the weather turns, which, here in Virginia, usually happens mid-October. Once that happens, however, I am ALL IN, as you will see, lol. Here’s hoping you love mums and apple baskets against lovely (if I do say so myself, lol) vintage backdrops as much as I do, because I just can’t get enough, especially of the oversized varieties our local farm stand carries each fall.

Fall-ing for the details

Forgive the pun, lol!!! Moving on, I am often asked about the vintage hunt country wallpaper that graces our breakfast nook. We were grateful to be able to see the iconic toile safely through the kitchen’s renovation, but all details regarding its origins were sadly lost long before we came to Tallwood.

The chinoiserie dining chairs pictured have been with us for many years and are a popular style from Ballard Designs. New chair cushions were recently purchase from British-based Mrs. Alice shop, and I adore the juxtaposition of the pale-blue gingham against the toile of the walls and the checkerboard of the floors — and the ruffles! Full disclosure: The shipping from England was quite expensive, but the cushions themselves were so inexpensive that, in total, they still ended up being more well-priced than anything else I had come across, not wanting to spend a fortune on cushions our boys will likely do their best to ruin, lol.
